Costa Rica Airfare Deals
Cost effective airfare deals to beautiful Costa Rica are currently available.
I just booked a 2009 Spring Break visit in April for my daughter at $260.42 ... round-trip between Orlando, Florida and San Jose, Costa Rica on jetBlue Airlines.
Additionally, a friend has booked a trip that includes airfare from Chicago's O'Hare airport (ORD) to San Jose's Juan Santamaria, Costa Rica (SJO) for May, 2009 at $294.42 round-trip on American Airlines. Similar deals were found at Continental Airlines.

thought I would write about my recent success with airfare as well, just booked a ticket out of Detroit for a record low, $197 round trip arriving second week of february. It was on spirit airlines and they were running a special of $74 one way on certain days, well, I chose my days accordingly, AND additionally spirit was running a promotion at the same time for 48 hours you could get $48 off if you typed in the promotional code SAVE48 in the box when booking. Hooray for cheap fares!

If you haven't yet, make sure that she is signed up into Continental OnePass freq flyer program, you can just call them and ask them to put her flyer number in her reservation.
These things add up, from ORD to here round trip is about 4954 miles (via Houston)
in the last 4 years I've flown over 100k miles with them, great airline (except during total meltdowns due to snow etc but in Houston those are very infrequent)

When do you need a travel visa? Do you need one for Costa Rica?

Nits,
Foreigners can visit and enjoy beautiful Costa Rica with a valid passport from most countries - no travel visa required.
The passport entry stamp grants visitors 90 days to remain in-country as a tourist. Should a tourist want to remain in Costa Rica past the 90 days ... the government of Costa Rica requires the tourist to leave for 72 hours. Once the visitor has left for 3 full days, they can re-enter Costa Rica for another 90 days once again as a legal tourist.

I need your help with some info!
I am planning a 4 day trip to Costa Rica sometime in March. This is supposed to be the schedule:
Day 1) Arrival in San Jose (probably late at night - after 9PM) So I'll just get a taxi to a hotel.
Day 2) Transfer to Palmar Sur
At 9:30 in the morning, you will transfer to the properties via a spectacular 35 minute commuter flight (approx. $200/per person/round trip) down the coast to a nearby airport in the town of Palmar Sur. One of our representatives will be there to greet you and drive you to the Guest House for your 2-night stay.
Day 3) Continuation of the guided tour
Day 4) Breakfast & Return to San Jose. After breakfast, we will drive you back to Palmar Sur where you will return via the commuter flight to San Jose . You should arrive back in San Jose by 11:30am where you have the entire day to relax or explore the city.
So I need info on the good but not really expensive hotels near the airport (internet is a must), how to spend quality time on my last day in San Jose (this is supposed to be an Anniversary gift to my wife) and avoid the thieves or any people who can give me a hard time.
Thanks a lot,
George

Hey George,
I am certainly not an expert on hotels very near the airport. When I was just visiting Costa Rica I usually hit the ground running and preferred some type of accommodations closer to activities or views (ie: in San Jose or something up hill).
Two hotels I can suggest for your review are: Orquideas Inn (http://www.OrquideasInn.com) Northwest of the Juan Santamaria Airport and Grano De Oro Hotel (http://www.hotelgranodeoro.com) just West of downtown San Jose.
Neither hotel is more than 20 minutes from the airport, yet each has distinctively different qualities.
You won't be disappointed with either hotel and your wife will find them to be the perfect compliment to her overall anniversary trip.
As for Internet ... Wi-Fi is plentiful in Costa Rica. In a pinch, stop into any McDonald's.

Soy costarricense y no se que significa
Pura Aniversario
Don't make any sense, please don't destroy our language, is Pura Vida!!!that's it

Carla,
You are correct: "Pura Aniversario" does not make any sense ... I was simply having fun with the Costarricense term "Pura Vida" and the U.S. term of "Happy Anniversary".
Combining the two terms was a light-hearted way at wishing the couple a good anniversary here in Costa Rica.
I'm sorry that you took offense as no offense was intended. My son is a Costarricense and I have the utmost respect for the language and culture ... while at the same time reserving my own right to have a sense of humor that I realize not every single person will appreciate.
I do hope that you will continue to enjoy Costa Rica Blogger and contribute despite my own shortcomings.
¡Pura Tranquilo!
