Kids Can Write About Costa Rica and Get Published
Have your kids been to a Costa Rican Rain Forest?
Even if they’ve only dreamed about it, kids from Kindergarten through 5th Grade are invited to submit original stories and artwork to the “I Love Costa Rica’s Rain Forest!” contest—based upon a real or imaginary travel adventure in the Costa Rican rainforest.

FYI - I wanted to run an English language essay contest for various schools in various regions of Costa Rica but was informed by my attorneys that this area of the law is very complex and could have exposed me to serious legal consequences... You might want to check it out.

Hi Scott,
Seems to me your idea is a good one and I can't think of why there would be any "legal consequences" for promoting and rewarding children for learning about Costa Rica.
That said, the contest I shared above is not my endeavor. I was simply passing the information along to interested party's, including my own son's Costa Rica school administration that appreciated the tip.
Let me know if you ever get clarification as to what could possibly be wrong with such a rewarding learning experience.

Thank you for posting our contest. We just wanted to let you know we've made 2 important changes:
1. A $100 Prize has been added by Smart Poodle Publishing for the 3 First Place Winners. There are 3 age categories, (with 9 contest winners total). The First Place Winners in these categories will each receive $100. All other prizes donated by Rand McNally remain the same.
2. The contest deadline has been extended to November 30, 2009. Winners will be announced on December 15th.
